1-0: Own mistake causes Almería ‘B’ away loss to Huétor Tájar

The homegrown players rued missed chances. Huétor Tájar snatch victory from the jaws of defeat

The UD Almería second team suffered a defeat on their visit to Huétor Tájar, following own mistake and not because of the adversaries’ great superiority. The Academy products would have obtained a better result if it was not for their rued missed chances. They did not take advantage of scoring opportunities and ended up paying dearly for it with the home team snatching a late win.

The Academy lads played the postponed matchday-5 fixture that could not be fulfilled before because of Covid-19. Almeria had the golden opportunity to sit one point within the leadership and overcome direct rivals in the race for promotion to third-tier Segunda Division ‘B’.

This time around, seven Almeria Under-19s ‘A’ players joined the squad list. Between the sticks, Rocha was the only contender to battle during the encounter in group IX ‘A’ competing in Tercera Division.

During the opening 45 minutes there were no goalscoring opportunities. The most outstanding missed chance was created by the hosts after a play in which the visiting goalie punched the ball away refusing to be lobbed.

Almería ‘B’ could have got ahead in the second half with Robles doing their bit after taking a leading role following two very clear chances. The young midfielder’s header went wide after Aitor Puñal’s lovely assist, while in the 62nd minute, his strike unluckily hit the crossbar.

The Rojiblancos ignored that time was ticking away as they seemed to have the situation under control. However, a blunder denied their away victory. With 81 minutes on the clock, a ball from Ramos led to an indecision between the ‘B’ team's goalkeeper and the defence. The ball crossed the line cancelling the goalless draw (1-0).

UD Almería ‘B’ have now fulfilled all their fixtures within group IX ‘A’ in Tercera Division and are going to close out 2020 by hosting Huétor Vega on Sunday at midday. The Indalicos sit third on 11 points in the table, 4 adrift from the leadership.
