1-0: Almeria ‘B’ climb up the table after being back to winning ways

Gilbert’s 10th goal of the season seals victory over UD Torre del Mar at the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos

After a five-week winless streak, UD Almería ‘B’ are back to winning ways in the Tercera Division RFEF (Group IX). The youngsters beat direct rivals UD Torre del Mar. It was during the second period when match-winner Gilbert scored his 10th goal of the season to seal victory at the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos.

It didn't take long for the youth squad to fashion the first chance as Raúl Caballero headed in after a corner-kick taken by Femín and goalie Benito had to do his best to avert danger. A new warning from the Rojiblancos was sent by Hugo Neves thanks to Gilbert’s assist.

Head coaach Óscar Fernández's side increased possession on the visitors’ half of the pitch so Alfonso Vera's lads had to pay extra attention to block the hosts’ constant crosses and goalscoring opportunities. With 26 minutes on the clock, Rojas crossed in from the right wing and fellow Caballero finished off without luck.

The UDA Academy team also tried from the edge of the area with an explosive shot by Aitor Puñal, in the 29th minute, which put Benito to the test, although the goalkeeper was able to catch the ball despite the difficulties.

Almería ‘B’ merited a goal...and they found the back of the net but the referee disallowed it. It was on a free-kick after 37 minutes in which Fermín played and Raúl Caballero slotted home. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced inside clearly. However, the effect of the ball made it return to the field and this caused doubts to the match official. In the second half, the boys from UD Torre del Mar tried to push forward, but they were forced to change their plan after being down to 10 men following the sending-off of Rafa Navarro inside 55 minutes. A hard tackle that led to his second yellow card. This coincided with a time when the Indalicos ‘B’ team began to grow back into the game in search of success. Caballero warned by teaming up with peer strong left-winger Hugo Neves.

It had been a long time since Óscar Fernández's hopeful boys deserved the goal and it came in the 74th minute. After a combinative action that ended with a brilliant cross from Hugo Neves to the far post in which Gilbert scored the match-winning goal to put an end to their 5-week winless streak (1-0). The forward was once again key for UD Almería ‘B’ with his 10th goal of the campaign, who is one of the top scorers within Group IX of Tercera RFEF in Spain.
