Jessi's first goal and Nadia’s brace propel the Rojiblancas out of the relegation zone after sensational game
UD Almería Women achieved an all-important victory to continue in the Primera Nacional women's league one more year. Having started far better, the Rojiblancas outplayed La Rambla courtesy of Nadia’s brace and debutant Jessi getting off the mark, one of the signings made in the January transfer window. In this way, Almeria have moved out of the relegation zone.
Hard work over the last match weeks rewarded Almeria Women with a comfortable 0-3 victory over La Rambla. This time, the contenders in red and white striped jerseys defeated a mid-table side who did not create danger since the Rojiblancas dominated the game offensively and defensively.
Agustín Sánchez introduced new faces in the starting XI and thus, the visiting squad started the match with Andrea Ríos; Irene; Pilar, Esther, Flores; Anita Paris, Paqui, Mireya, Nadia, Sonia and Jessi, who enjoyed her first starting place after debuting last weekend. This Aguilas-born link-up duo worked perfectly to put The Indalicas in front.
Almería made it really difficult for La Rambla to build out of the back with high pressure. After a stepover, Nadia dodged a defender to slot home on 53 minutes doubling their lead (0-2). It seemed that the girls from Almeria were not satisfied with this advantage and they went for more. It was in the 67th minute when Jessi drove the ball down the right wing and did find Nadia with a cross to let her score the second goal making it 0-3.
UD Almería Women achieved a vital victory that propels them out of the drop zone. This is the fifth matchday win that extends the team’s unbeaten run to approach the middle of the table. Nonetheless, it must be taken into account that sides such as Málaga, Sporting de Huelva or La Rambla have postponed matches.
