0-2: UD Almería defeat Saudi champions in Portugal

Goals courtesy of Daijiro Chirino and Adrián Embarba secured an impressive pre-season victory over Al Nassr FC as García Pimienta's side produced another encouraging display

UD Almería continued their positive pre-season preparations with an impressive 2-0 victory over Saudi Pro League champions Al Nassr FC at the Portuguese Football Federation's Football City.

A stunning solo goal from Daijiro Chirino early in the second half, followed by Adrián Embarba's penalty, sealed theW after an accomplished all-round team performance. Solid defensively, composed in possession and dangerous going forward, the Rojiblancos delivered another encouraging display ahead of the upcoming campaign.

First Half

UD Almería made the brighter start and created the first clear opportunity of the match through Miguel de la Fuente. The striker reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the box, but his powerful low effort was well blocked by keeper Bento.

The Rojiblancos controlled possession during the opening stages and continued to threaten. Brian Cipenga came agonisingly close to opening the scoring after winning possession high up the pitch, only to see his excellent strike crash against the far post.

After UD Almería's strong opening, Al Nassr FC began to enjoy more of the ball, but García Pimienta's side remained compact and well organised. Mikel Vesga impressed on his debut in midfield, helping the team maintain their defensive shape while limiting the Saudi side to very few openings.

The first half ended with the Andalusians firmly in control, combining defensive discipline with attacking intent.

Second Half

The breakthrough arrived shortly after Andrés Fernández produced an outstanding save to deny Al Hamdan in what proved to be the Saudi giants' clearest chance of the evening. The experienced goalkeeper stood his ground brilliantly to keep the scores level.

Moments later, Chirino produced the game's standout moment. Winning possession deep inside his own half, the Curaçao international embarked on a remarkable solo run, carrying the ball the length of the pitch before calmly beating the goalkeeper to give UD Almería a deserved 1-0 lead.

Embarba doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after winning the spot-kick himself. The co-captain confidently converted from 12 yards to complete an excellent team performance.

The Indálicos continued to boss things during the dying embers, while Andrés Fernández preserved his clean sheet with another superb save before bravely blocking the rebound despite taking a heavy blow to the face.

The final whistle confirmed another productive outing for UD Almería, who recorded their 4th consecutive pre-season meeting with Al Nassr FC and continued their preparations with an impressive victory in Portugal.
