0-0: UD Almería Women battle hard on home turf for a share of spoils
The Rojiblancas stage an even encounter with plenty of end-to-end activity against visitors Cacereño Women 'B'
Although the strangest thing of all was that neither side found a breakthrough, UD Almería Women picked up a point after a home match with plenty of end-to-end activity against Cacereño Women 'B'. The Rojiblancas and the Extremeñas whipped in many chances, although finally the game ended in a goalless stalemate.
Head coach Álvaro García Búrdalo introduced some new faces in the Starting XI, highlighting the first start for goalkeeper Sara, who had to make great saves and keep her reflexes sharp from the off. From there, the Indalicas grew back into the game based on effective combinations and vertical football without finishing though.
In the second half, the girls from UD Almería Women had less ball control but the biggest chances set up, and thus, on 46 minutes, the visiting keeper became the heroine when blocking a powerful shot unleashed by Mati. The Cacereño's reaction would not take long, Sara having to punch the opponent's effort clear. The Rojiblancas were in danger in an action in which Ángela Moreno fell into the area, without the match official awarding the penalty. Be that as it may, contrary to what happened on the first Matchday, the team did not collapse, but kept fighting to death and Jessi fired a loose ball that the opposing goalie denied.
The league meeting was heading towards its end after a second period that unfolded with neither side finding the back of the net and both outfits walking away with a point. The home teams girls were actually about to bag the three points, but Rojiblanca Ángela Moreno did not manage to finish off a pass from her team-mate after a corner-kick.
All in all, UD Almería Women collected a another valuable point within the Segunda Division RFEF after the international break.
