The UDA Academy prospects did not score against Vélez CF as the opponents made it really difficult for them throughout the full 90 minutes of the second pre-season friendly
UD Almería 'B' had to settle for a goalless stalemate against Vélez CF in the second pre-season friendly. Alberto Lasarte's boys created a couple of clear-cut chances, but luck was not on their side this Saturday. The nil-all draw left good vibes against adversaries who made it really difficult for the Rojiblancos.
UD Almería 'B' began the match with great intensity, pressing Vélez CF and creating dangerous situations, so much so that in the 8th minute, Luis Lara squandered a great opportunity to score the opener with a good low-driven shot blocked by the Vélez's keeper. After this, the game entered a phase without a clear dominating side, a lot of play in midfield, but without progressing up the pitch. The defences of both outfits held out and prevented the ball from finding the back of the net. It was nearly half-time when Vélez CF spurned a good opportunity through Luis Miguel, but his strike went wide.
In the second half, the first big chance for UD Almería 'B' came after a powerful kick by Valen taken from the edge of the area that hit the crossbar. Shortly after, Despite Fede Oliva and Youness teamed up, their effort was denied by a defender by the goalline.
The two youth sides failed to construct effective plays in the second half, and therefore it was difficult to get the ball to the right places up the pitch to dominate. The youthful Indálicos were reduced to 10 due to Joan's sending-off with ten minutes to go. Needless to say, Vélez CF tried to take advantage of it, but the Rojiblancos' defence was absolutely solid to keep a clean sheet at the Anexo ground.
