0-0: Almeria ‘B’ settle for a point in goalless draw

The UDA Academy players dominate the home game against UD San Pedro but lack decision-making in the opposition box

An imprecise Almeria ‘B’ team in decision-making in the box during their match against San Pedro had to settle for just one point at the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos. The Academy players would dominate Sunday’s game, however they lacked precision in front of the goal so the match ended in a goalless stalemate with limited goalmouth activity (0-0).

In general, the ball was seen most of the time within the attacking third as Óscar Fernández's boys were raring to clinch a home victory so as to regain the lead through vertical football. This led to goal-scoring opportunities, but not those warning shots that usually make the rival goalie uncomfortable. As a consequence, during the first half, an action by Lokosa stood out, in which a defender got in the way of the ball and a cross from Kevin forced out for a corner.

The Almeria ‘B’ contenders struggled to find the final pass during the second half in which, except for a strike by Rojas, who grazed the crossbar, the young Rojiblancos’ chances failed to yield an opener. There was no way to break the deadlock against UD San Pedro. The well-organised visitors were putting all their efforts into keeping the initial score and waiting for an opportunity to counter-attack. In fact, keeper Fuoli made a great save to block one of those attempts.

During the final minutes, the UD Almería ‘B’ players’ fervent hopes of achieving a victory were wrecked by their lack of precision in the opposition 18-yard-box. The referee called time on a goalless draw (0-0) and the Academy team collected a new point to remain invincible on home turf.
