‘We have not played our best, but we deserved the victory’

José María Gutiérrez stressed that he will demand much more from this team

José María Gutiérrez, the UD Almeria’s manager, said at the post-match press conference that
‘we have not played our best, but we deserved the victory’. He also added ‘Basically, it seemed
that the game was over when the first goal was scored because our opponents did not put
much pressure on us. Real Oviedo looked set to get a tough draw by keeping a clean sheet’.

The Almeria’s manager explained that ‘After a slow start in the first-half, Kaptoum and Corpas
came on in to enhance the second-half performance. The team did better on the ball and
managed to create chances and finally find the net’.

José María Gutiérrez feels blissful after second clean sheet of 2020. In this regard, he pointed
out that ‘we have definitely improved defensively and have not conceded goals in the last two
games. This is something that makes me feel satisfied. It is important to win, but it feels much
better if you do it by keeping a clean sheet. Anyway, we have to keep on improving in different
aspects of the game because I will demand more consistency from the team’.

Right now, it is time to turn our attention to Extremadura UD with only two days for training.
He also pointed out ‘the players must take the proper steps toward to recover their strength
for the next performance’.
