‘We have a spectacular challenge ahead of us’

Fran Villalba highlights that Almería's objective is a strong motivation for returning to competition

‘There are eleven finals in which we have to go all out’, Fran Villalba was really honest during his interview with the club's official station, UDA Radio. He analysed the steady training progress. The return of LaLiga SmartBank is on its way and the player stressed that ‘all of us have come back feeling strong, enthusiastic and looking forward to achieving the goal set at the beginning of the season, and that is still on.’ For this reason, Villalba said that ‘we have a spectacular challenge ahead of us’, which entails strong motivation in the team for returning to competition.

With regard to the preparation, the attacking midfielder believes that the Rojiblanco coaching staff are putting the players through their paces and ‘helping as much as they can’, so that the squad can improve their strength and stamina for a more complete performance on the pitch. In any case, he defines himself as ‘a more technical than physical player’ and in his opinion UD Almería will not change the way he plays on the pitch. ‘I think that our team have good technical skills and therefore, we are not going to resort to the physical factor to win the games’, he assured.

Fran Villalba also pointed out that ‘the match against Zaragoza is going to be a crunch game because, apart from winning the three points at stake, we would manage to close the gap on the top two-finishing teams.’

Looking on the bright side of the global health emergency, Fran Villalba made it clear that ‘this has to make us stronger’, when it comes to strengthening team bonds. In this sense, the number 10 explained: ‘We have always been a great team and right now, we are even more so. We get on and work well together.’
