UD Almería extend Fran Villalba loan deal

The Rojiblanco club has an option-to-buy on the Number 10, who is currently on loan from Birmingham City

UD Almería and Birmingham City have agreed to extend Fran Villalba's loan until the end of the 2020/21 season. In addition, Almeria have an option-to-buy on the attacking playmaker with which they will have a preferential right in the event of signing the player permanently.

The Valencia-born attacking midfielder loanee ended up in the Almeria team during the last winter transfer window. Since his arrival back in January, he has played a total of 18 games - 16 in LaLiga SmartBank and 2 in the play-off for promotion – scoring two goals and countless assists for the UD Almeria statistics.

Fran Villalba knows LaLiga SmartBank well enough, since before wearing the UD Almería read and white striped jersey in the second-tier, he was a key player with Numancia in the past 2018/19 season. In fact, his great performances playing for the team from Soria (Castilla y Leon) captured the attention of English club Birmingham City, who did not hesitate to undertake his signing.

UD Almería continue to build up the first-team squad ahead of the start of the upcoming league. In this sense, the 22-year-old playmaker joins the list of footballers who will continue in the club after having played the play-off for promotion to the Spanish top-tier in the 2019/20 campaign.
