José Gomes values the intensity and quality of his team against the might of Espanyol
UD Almeria head coach José Gomes gave his account on a hard-fought, positive point picked up by his team at the Juegos Mediterráneos Stadium and did so by pointing out: ‘This draw has to give us confidence for what lies ahead.’ The coach unpacked the idea that it took ‘a lot of work’ to collect this point, which led him to add: ‘We wanted more, but we weren't playing against just any rivals, but against a strong and organised side. Espanyol are in their best moment of the season.’
In his post-game analysis from the press room, Gomes stressed ‘the two attacks were even and the defences were better.’ Next, he commented: ‘It was a very well-played game, with a lot of quality from the players.’
Focusing on the Rojiblancos team, the Lusitanian described the league meeting as tightly contested and stressed that ‘concentration on defensive duels’ was key to take a share of the points.
