Mohamed El Assy: ‘We’re very happy with the result of the transfer window’

The UD Almeria CEO reported the Club's latest news and states ‘we’ve created a more complete squad’

UD Almeria CEO Mohamed El Assy reported the Club’s latest news taking advantage of his presence in front of the media to officially present Carriço as a new Rojiblanco player. Once the presser with the Portuguese footballer was over, he answered all the questions.

When talking about the transfer window, Mohamed El Assy stated ‘we’re very happy with the result. We’ve achieved what we wanted, considering the needs of the head coach and the squad. We’ve got a compact team and I think we can fight for the goal. There’s more balance between talent and experience. We’ve made fewer signings than in other seasons and that means that there’re more players adapted to UD Almería. The head coach also knows this league perfectly and I’d like to emphasise that we’ve created a more complete squad.’

Mohamed El Assy considered that it had not been difficult to keep players listed and sought-after in the transfer window such as Sadiq, Samú or Lazo, and in this regard, he reflected ‘they’re footballers who feel happy and comfortable in our team, as well as being loyal. If we had received a good offer that met the goals of the Club and the player, it’d have been studied, but they’re happy, they love the city and Almería’s game. The offers that we’ve received were not up to the player’s level.’

The UD Almeria general manager also spoke about the UD Almeria Academy project: ‘We once again have another Almeria-born player in the first team. This season, we won’t only talk about the talent of the first team, but also the ‘B’ team and the Youth sides’. There will be big surprises! Before we arrived at the Club, we lost the talents of footballers from Almeria and that’s not going to happen anymore. We want to protect the football within the province of Almeria and many players will make it to the first team eventually. This is what we said when we arrived and Robles is a clear example.’

Mohamed El Assy was also asked about the reconstruction of the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium and he answered ‘it’s already a reality. Before the season ends, we’ll be able to celebrate that stage one has already been completed.’
