Iván Balliu participates in LaLiga Foundation’s project ‘Connect with Future Fans’

The right-back talks to more than 100 students about the values of sport and the prevention and security measures for Covid-19

UD Almería right-back Iván Balliu, and the Francisco de Goya School have participated in the ‘Conecta con Futura Aficion’ (‘Connect with Future Fans’) streaming session framed in the ‘Futura Aficion’ (‘Future Fans’) project, a 10-day school education programme about values through football that LaLiga Foundation has been organising for more than six years.

The 29-year-old co-captain encouraged more than 100 students to continue complying with the security and preventive measures for coronavirus. Washing their hands often, maintaining a safe distance from peers and following the playground rules at all times are some of the tips that the Caldes de Malavella-born player has shared with the boys and girls connected.

In addition, the UD Almería footballer explained the new routines that have been set within LaLiga as well as the new rules that the players have to follow: ‘touchless’ greetings, not sharing changing rooms, using soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub frequently and wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible or whenever they are not on the pitch or training.

This Awareness Day aims to turn today's boys and girls into respectful fans sharing a passion for sport in general and football in particular, besides cherishing effort, improvement, teamwork, tolerance, empathy and especially non-violent values in sport.

LaLiga Foundation’s director Olga de la Fuente stressed ‘it’s an honour to have the commitment of LaLiga Clubs in the collective mission in a bid to raise awareness and sensitize to the problems of violence in football and unsportsmanlike behaviour, as well as the need to work together to follow all the measures we must adopt to prevent the spread of Covid-19 on the football fields at school, in the office or at home.’
