Almeria squad in brutal double training sessions as players get down to hard work on pre-season in a sweltering spring day

The Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium is turning into a ‘circus’, in which the skilled and talented Almería squad performs the most thrilling acts yet. Since the Rojiblancos have returned to double training sessions, today’s preparation has been brutal and marked by the greater volume and intensity in training in a sweltering spring day. 

A lot of work has been carried out by the medical and coaching staff on routines and individual programmes in anticipation of a return to small group training. The footballers continue to train in three different static groups; each of them is working together with the same coaching and medical staff, physiotherapists and equipment... nothing can be shared with any of the other groups again observing social distancing guidelines after exercise restrictions were eased. 

Although the morning practice focused on technical and tactical aspects, before there was some time for strength training exercises. Soon after, the ball was in great demand because it was time to work on combination plays to finish drills. Last but not least, the players participated in small-sided games to round off the morning session. 

In the afternoon, the Rojiblancos were back on the pitch for some resistance training to build their fitness up and solo running exercises. Finally, ‘live on stage’, footvolley to say goodbye to a hard day at work before returning on Thursday morning to the Anexo training ground.
