Álvaro García Búrdalo is no longer head coach of Almería Women

Agustín Sánchez has been appointed as a caretaker coach for the next matchday

UD Almería has decided to dismiss Álvaro García Búrdalo as head coach of UD Almeria Women following a series of poor results. Thus, while it is being decided who will be in the Rojiblancas team’s driving seat, Agustín Sánchez, coordinator of the men's ‘B’ team, will once again lead the squad as a caretaker coach for the next Primera Nacional Women's Division matchday.

Álvaro became the head coach on matchday 3 of the championship. He has been present in a total of nine league games, getting 9 points out of 27 possible (2 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses). This poor run of results has meant that Almería Women sit in the relegation zone two points away from safety and with two more clashes against direct rivals to be played, before meeting halfway point of the 2020/21 season. Having said that, the club has made the decision to change the head coach in search of a reaction.

Agustín Sánchez returns to the team as a caretaker coach, as he did on matchday 2 in which the Almeria ladies achieved a meritorious draw at the Real Betis Women ‘B’ pitch. The coach is due to conduct his first training session on Monday afternoon and will continue, at least, until the end of next Saturday's commitment in Mérida.

UD Almería would like to warmly thank Álvaro García Búrdalo for his clear commitment and great dedication as Almeria Women's team head coach. Meanwhile, the Rojiblancas team wish him the best of luck in his future footballing career.
