Almeria U19 ‘A’ will play to their strengths to stay up

The Academy teenagers host Recreativo de Huelva with a five-point advantage over the relegation zone. Three games to go

UD Almería Under-19s ‘A’ have entered the final stretch of the season with the great opportunity of staying up in the ‘Division de Honor Juvenil’ league, the highest level of Spanish youth football. With three games to go, the teenage Rojiblancos are 5 points away from relegation and 4 points over Recreativo de Huelva, who visit Los Angeles ground this Sunday (kick-off 6 p.m. CEST).

Miguel Compán's young squad have one of the most important weeks of the league season ahead. A triumph over Huelva will be large step forward towards survival since both Recreacionsitas and Santa Fe – another side involved in the fight to avoid the drop- have one less contested game so winning would allow Almeria U19s ‘A’ to continue with an advantage regardless of any score achieved in the postponed match between the above-mentioned teams.

Almería U19s ‘A’ will defend twice the team colours on home turf during this final stretch, while the young boys will have to make just one trip. After the visit of Recre, they will head to Córdoba and next, close out the season at home against Castilleja.

Almeria U19s ‘A’ are 5 points clear of the relegation spots, but with the exception that the lads from Huelva will play the rearranged match against Santa Fe later on. Santa Fe sit 5 points below the UDA Academy boys, as well as Atlético Sanluqueño.

On another note, collecting all three points on Sunday would leave Nervion no options to catch up with Almeria as they are 7 points behind. Other relegation-threatened scrappers Rusadir, 26 de Febrero, Dos Hermanas-San Andrés and Polillas de Ceuta can no longer hunt down Miguel Compán's squad in the table.

There are three more enthralling weekends ahead competing in Division de Honor Juvenil. Almeria U19s ‘A’ have a battle on their hands if they want to stay up without having to look at their direct rivals’ results. Los Angeles ground hosts Sunday’s game behind closed doors due to the measures adopted to avoid the spread of Covid-19. It will be the first step of the homegrown players in their firm belief of moving towards safety.
