Almería reduce gap on Mallorca by one point and keep promotion-chasers at bay

Tuesday off before getting back to training on Wednesday to prepare for the match versus CD Mirandés

Almería reduce the gap on second-placed RCD Mallorca by one point in the standings while keep their promotion-chasers at bay after LaLiga SmartBank Matchday 35. Reaching automatic promotion is still a difficult task for the Indalicos, yet they have strengthened their hold on third spot.

RCD Espanyol remain leaders with 71 points while Mallorca remain second on 68 points after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Castellon. UD Almería sit third on 61 points, closing the gap on the islanders to seven points with seven games to go before the campaign comes to an end.

The fourth spot is occupied by CD Leganés with 58 points. The Madrid-based side drew with SD Ponferradina on home turf, while Sporting de Gijon and Rayo Vallecano, who also did not win this weekend, have 56 points. There is an nine-point difference between UD Almería and play-off hopefuls Girona FC.

UD Almeria visit CD Mirandés this Saturday (Matchday 36/ kick-off 4 p.m. CEST/ to be broadcast on Spanish free-to-air TV channel Gol). The squad have been given Tuesday off work and resume training on Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at the training base, Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos, to begin preparing this new league commitment.
