Almería are gearing up to combine LaLiga with Copa del Rey

The Rojiblancos have three home matches in six days again. The main league is being contested alongside the cup competition

After their resounding triumph against Deportivo Alavés in Copa del Rey, Almería are back to the daily grind in a long week since they will not be back in action until Sunday. CE Sabadell FC will be making their first outing to the Juegos Mediterráneos Stadium once the half-season is over. Well, not for everyone as Almeria are still to play their postponed matchday-21 fixture against CD Leganes to complete the first half of the tournament. In spite of that, UD Almeria’s first reverse match is taking place on Sunday at 2 p.m. (CET).

The week is going to be long and will not only serve the players well for the imminent league match, but also for the demanding following week ahead of the squad. That is to say that after hosting Centre d'Esports Sabadell Futbol Club, there will be two more home games in a row, possibly on Wednesday 27, January and Saturday, 30 January, when Almería are to welcome CD Castellón in an official match at the Mediterraneo.

Almeria will have to put their hearts and souls into the competition given that relegation-threatened Sabadell and Castellón are two adversaries who are fighting to their strengths so as to avoid the drop. On top of that, the Rojiblancos will be taking on another top-flight team in the Spanish Cup last-16. As aforementioned, the cup tie is most likely to be played on Wednesday 27, Saturday. The team to face also at home will be known after the draw that is taking place this Friday 22, January.

Three games in a week, all of them on home turf, with the option of taking another step forward in the league whilst keeping the Copa del Rey dream alive. However, reality is none other than trying to gain promotion to the top flight this season.

As for the latest injury news, Jose Gomes was not able to count on Ramazani and Olivera in the first training session of the week, as they are feeling some muscular discomfort. Jordi Escobar exercised on the sidelines.
