3-1: First-half trouble leaves Almería Women with no points

The Rojiblancas are ahead early with 10 girls before half-time and end up losing the away game versus La Rambla Women

Unexpected setbacks in the final stretch of the first half of UD Almería Women’s visit to La Rambla left the Rojiblancas with no points this match week. The players led by Agustín Sánchez began the contest commanding to the point that Irene soon put the Indálicas in front. After a quarter of an hour the adversaries’ equaliser was scored and the balance was maintained until Laura was sent off within 34 minutes. The Cordoba-based side took advantage of that foul to make it 2-1. The hosts extended their lead in the second perod to claim victory (3-1).

The UD Almeria Women head coach made a change in the starting XI with respect to the squad of the previous Matchday. Paqui entered the pitch occupying the place of Adriana, who was not part of the squad list. So, regardless of the player mentioned, Ani; Eva, Laura, Esther, Mireya, Anita París, Marta Paz, Paqui, Irene, María and Fátima were the contenders.

The beginning of the UDA Women's team was close to perfection. The Rojiblancas began to play their game scoring the early opener after 7 minutes. Ani took a free-kick in the front of her own area, Fatima sent the ball towards the wing and Irene beat La Rambla’ keeper.

With the visitors advantage, both teams battled it out creating chances. With 19 minutes on the clock, the team from Cordoba took advantage of an indecision in the Indalicas’ defensive third to draw level thanks to Ainhoa (1-1). The equaliser did not change anyting else at that time as both sides looked to keep possession and control the offensive game.

It was then when some actions would end up with UD Almería Women’s aspirations of bagging points on this Matchday. Laura was sent off with a red card. Immediately afterwards, the set-piece from that foul led to the hosts’ second just before half-time (2-1).

Agustín Sánchez sought a reaction through a substitution with Lucia coming on for María. However, the resumption of the clash caused more trouble for the Rojiblancas. Isa made it 3-1 after another foul committed just one minute after the restart. UD Almería Women did not give up at any time, despite the fact that eveything went downhill. During the second forty-five minutes, Sarita and Sonia entered to team up on the final third. But the goal-scoring opportunities did not arrive. One of the highlights during this half was U16 player Mar debuting with the senior women’s team.

The final stretch of the first half was an unexpected setback for Almeria Women. They tried their best but it was a bad day at the office. The trip to Córdoba was the first of the two consecutive outings that the Indálicas have scheduled in Primera Nacional. Next week, the women's team are visiting Granada ‘B’, with kick-off yet to be confirmed.
