2-2: Costly mistakes prevent Almeria ‘B’ from going beyond draw

The youngsters come back from an early opener by Torredonjimeno, yet give up a point after a penalty given away within 86 minutes

UD Almería ‘B’ had to settle for a point even though they dominated Torredonjimeno. However, costly mistakes in two specific moments were decisive for the share of the points. The young Indalicos had to draw level after an early opener found by the visitors. In fact, the hosts showed great reaction capacity by turning the game around with goals from Rojas and Gilbert. A penalty given away by the hosts within 86 minutes led to the final 2-2.

The Academy Rojiblancos faced the contest ready to pull off a win after last Saturday’s defeat. They had no choice but to pull their socks up very soon, since after 5 minutes, a little mistake made when defending a corner-kick awarded Javi Bueno's shot with the opener (0-1).

It was after the restart that the best version of Almería ‘B’ was noticeable, although before, it was necessary to pluck up the courage as Raúl Caballero, who picked up and injury, had to come off the pitch. Shortly after, it was Kevin Bautista who left the field on a stretcher to be taken to a hospital. The player was not able to stand on his leg after a set-piece.

After these forced changes, head coach Óscar Fernández decided to bring on Rojas onto the Tito Pedro artificial turf, who as soon as he entered, he achieved the equaliser with a great shot from the edge of the box. It was the 70th minute on level terms (1-1).

At that time, the Academy Almeria ‘B’ lads completely dominated the match digging deep. That fighting spirit paid off because Gilbert turned the tables after firing home on 74 minutes (2-1).

The UD Almería ‘B’ fighters shown a great capacity for reaction, yet in the final stretch another costly decisive mistake was unluckily made. There were 5 minutes to go when Ginés gave away a penalty that was converted by opponent Adri (2-2).

Almeria ‘B’ went all out to break the deadlock in added time. In the end, after so much effort, there was a share of the spoils in Almeria. It was all square at 2-2.
