2-1: A penalty goal leaves Almeria U19 ‘A' without reward vs Sevilla

The Rojiblancos were on the verge of bagging points in their Youth ‘Division de Honor’ opening match. The two Almeria U16 sides kicked off the season

A 50-minute goal from 12 yards resulted in a 2-1 that left UD Almería U19s ‘A’ without points on their visit to Sevilla in the Youth Division de Honor opening game. In general terms, the group led by Juan Carlos Cintas did a great job with a good letter of introduction on the Sevillians turf to the point that they cancelled out the hosts’ early opener and their great performance should have rewarded them with a better result.

The Academy side head coach picked a starting XI formed by Mert; Domi, Junior, Carmona, Dani Ibarra, Sala, Hugo, Abel, Gabi, Yepes and Palomino. Sevilla took the lead in the initial moments through Alexandro after 11 minutes.

The reaction of the Indalicos youth squad was immediate, since just four minutes later, an approach by those teenagers from the UD Almeria Academy ended with the ref awarding the visitors a penalty. Abel converted from 12 yards to put his name onto the scoresheet and draw level (1-1).

A balanced game was being played with both teams firing warning shots. Almeria U19 ‘A’ continued to venture forward in a bid to break the deadlock but without finding their way to score again. A Sevillian breakaway towards the area led to another penalty. Alenxandro beat the keeper from the spot penalty.

Juan Carlos Cintas’s boys did not surrender to one of the candidates to occupy one of the top positions within group IV. Almeria U19s ‘A’ looked to get at least one point that would be a prize for the great effort made at the José Ramón Cisneros Sports Complex. There was no luck, so the youth squad are now focused on their first home match of the season vs Malaga, which is going to be played on Wednesday (kick-off 8pm).
