1-4: UD Almería’s lead continues as they sweep CD Mirandes aside

Spectacular performance from the Rojiblancos to remain top of the league. Dyego Sousa starts and steals the show bagging a superb hat-trick

If there is one word that sums up the away match played by UD Almería at the Anduva Stadium, it is spectacular. The Rojiblancos put in a commanding performance to sweep CD Mirandés aside (1-4) to continue topping the LaLiga SmartBank table. The result was 0-3 at half-time following scorchers and some ingenious assists provided by the lads from Andalusia. During the second period, Dyego Sousa drilled home the fourth -completing his superb hat-trick- to seal the Indálicos victory away from home.

Rubi opted for a total of 7 new faces in the starting XI with respect to those footballers who started against Real Sociedad ‘B’ last Thursday. Fernando between the sticks; Pozo, Chumi, Iván Martos, Centelles, Samú, César de la Hoz, Arnau, Portillo, Appiah and Dyego Sousa put in a brave fight in North Spain.

UD Almeria came flying out of traps and forced the keeper into a handful of saves. As a matter of fact, the clash was dominated from the off by the boys in green as the Rojiblancos were wearing their third kit. Within half an hour, the score got to 0-3…Rubi’s men knew the game was in the bag. Sousa was on fire as the first-time starter this season netted twice in the 3rd and 22nd minutes while Arnau Puigmal slotted home 26 minutes in thanks to a smart assist from the Portuguese attacker.

Judging by their spirited performance and effective teamwork up north, the three points were meant to be picked up by the Rojiblancos and taken down south. Shortly after the restart, Dyego Sousa put the finishing touch to his sensational display with a hat-trick to make it 0-4. It was the 52nd minute.

Time was ticking away and there was no danger that the Rojiblancos could feel on the Anduva pitch. Gutsy CD Mirandés continued to put up a brave fight and Iñigo Vicente converted from 12 yards on 71 minutes (1-4). Anyway, the hosts had a mountain to climb from there so the triumph belonged to UD Almería who took all three points and secured their LaLiga SmartBank lead at the final whistle.
