0-4: Fantastic UD Almería ease past AD Alcorcón

Sadiq steals the show with his 3-goal contribution and Pozo’s fourth goal secures victory for the Rojiblancos

Spectacular! UD Almeria put on a stylish display as they ran out of comfortable 0-4 winners over AD Alcorcón. The Rojiblancos’ effective teamwork proved their dominance at all times. Sadiq Umar scored a brace, although he intervened in a third after taking a penalty that was considered an own goal after his shot hit the crossbar and the Alcorcon’s keeper. Pozo sealed victory after his fourth goal.

Head coach Rubi introduced a total of four new faces in the starting line-up. Portillo and César de la Hoz became starters, while Pozo took the place of injured Aitor Buñuel and Centelles was in for Akieme, who could not travel due to muscle discomfort.

The changes seemed to worked out perfectly. From the very beginning, an astonishing superiority of the Indálicos squad was undeniable. So much so that, in the 6th minute, Sadiq Umar put the visitors in front by staging a play that stood out because before the Nigerian's shot there was a perfect link-up duo between team-mates Ramazani and Robertone.

Great work in the midfield and effective attacking plays were two keys to the game of the Rojiblancos at the Santo Domingo Stadium. Portillo gave a spectacular pass to Sadiq's run-in-behind and the striker scored one of the goals of the match in which he showed power and quality when finishing after cutting inside the box. UD Almeria were two up within 15 minutes.

Yes. The first half was brilliant, but there would still be time for more. The superiority of UD Almería not only remained, but the lads grew into the game and, in the 35th minute, Ramazani made it 0-3. The young Belgian was ready by winning possession when an opponent challenged him within the area. Sadiq Umar had the chance to score a hat-trick, but this did not happen officially because the ball hit the crossbar and went in after hitting the goalkeeper, which was considered by the ref as an own goal. Anyway, the goal was recorded on the scoreboard and Almeria kept on extending their lead (0-3).

The Madrid-based home team had a mountain to climb following the three-goal advantage taken by the visitors. At the end of the break, Sadiq put goalie Dani Jiménez to the test yet again as the talented Nigerian dared with a strike from the midfield that hit the crossbar. He could have slammed in his fourth.

During the second half, it was impossible to keep the momentum, but the total dominance of UD Almería would continue. In fact, with the exception of a scoring opportunity at the hands of AD Alcorcón in which the ball grazed the post, Fernando did not have to intervene at any time over the course of the away game.

With 68 minutes on the clock, Pozo positioned himself as a winger as Juanjo Nieto came on from the bench. The attacking midfielder was in charge of slotting home thanks to Robertone’s well-delivered cross to seal victory (0-4). The players’ attitude only went to prove the stunning performance from UD Almería.

The icing on the cake was UD Almeria keeping a clean sheet. It is true that the woodwork prevented a potential goal from AD Alcorcón in the 73rd minute, but nothing would prevent the spectacular night of UD Almería- in which the team showed effective teamwork and also attacking skills to achieve an all-important victory on LaLiga SmartBank Matchday 6.
