0-1: Almería close out pre-season competitive action with a new victory

The team beat Betis ‘B’ wearing the new away kit for the first time in the scorching heat. Two days off before turning attention to the league start

Despite the sweltering heat, UD Almería closed out their pre-season training camp and completed the friendly encounters with a new victory in the morning game played against Betis Deportivo Balompie. Sadiq scored the match-winning goal in the 26th minute in a game with two different starting XIs. Gone are eleven days of training-camp in Marbella, with a demanding and satisfying job. The squad will have two days off before getting back to training this Wednesday to start preparing for LaLiga SmartBank kick-off.

After facing other Andalusian rivals such as Málaga CF, Cádiz CF and Real Betis Balompie over the course of this summer’s competitive action, the Rojiblancos closed out the pre-season playing Betis Deportivo Balompie, the Betis ‘B’ side that play in the third-tier Primera Division RFEF. Despite they compete in a lower league level, the truth is that the opponents put up a good fight and spirited performance. In fact, the adversaries stood up and this action was vital for UD Almería, who had more possession of the ball and were loyal to their style of play. With 26 minutes on the clock, Sadiq broke the deadlock (0-1). It was a tightly contested encounter that saw the Indalicos on the ascendency creating more goal-scoring opportunities than their competitors.

In the last 45 minutes of pre-season action, head coach Rubi rang the changes yet again with a completely different line-up with contenders that dug deep and took the initiative, however they failed to put chances away and extend their lead. As a result, the friendly match came to an end with UD Almeria not only having positive vibes but also wrapping up a new 1-0 victory.
