Pepe Mel: "This point is very important for our self-esteem"

The UD Almería head coach valued the point achieved very positively, although he assures: 'It's a shame not to have achieved 2-3 in Ramazani's opportunity' despite that, the gaffer assured: 'We're satisfied to have competed in such a difficult venue.'

UD Almería head coach Pepe Mel shared his post-game thoughts against Real Sociedad in which his team managed to get a well-deserved draw. 'We were aware that we were coming to play against a great team that has been fighting in the Champions League and is looking for European qualification. We knew that for them it was an important game.'

'This point reduced our anxiety about looking at the table,' he added.

As for the Rojiblancos' opportunity in stoppage time, the gaffer said: 'It was a shame for Ramazani who was close to make it 2-3, but we're satisfied to have competed in a very difficult venue.'

The Madrid native also highlighted with conviction: 'We aren't fooling anyone when we say that we have nothing to lose. I already said it in the match preview that we had to come and have fun, I have some players who know how to play with the ball and come to this pitch to lock you up is a mistake. They're very dangerous from set pieces and we had to play our football and Real Sociedad will think backwards. We played a good thirty minutes, but that quick draw hurt us a lot. It's a shame not to have won because it would've given us more self-esteem,' he concluded.
