5-1: UD Almería receive severe drubbing at the hands of Sevilla FC

The Rojiblancos were outclassed by gritty Andalusian adversaries throughout the full 90 minutes and paid dearly for defensive errors. Luis Suárez scored the consolation goal through a penalty

UD Almería were thrashed on their visit to the Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium as they were outclassed by Sevilla FC at all times. Before the first 10 minutes, the Sevillistas were 2-0 up and they would extend their lead to 3-0 on the stroke of half-time. As soon as the second half kicked off, the Nervionenses' fourth was slammed in and Salas's fifth sealed an astounding victory over the Indálicos, who only managed to score a consolation goal converted by striker Luis Suárez from the penalty spot.

As UD Almería head coach Vicente Moreno had already warned in the pre-Sevilla presser, there were 4 changes to the starting X that took on Valencia CF three days ago. Alejandro Pozo returned to the right flank after shaking off his muscle injury; Centelles was back on the left wing where he debuted this season; Baba, who came in as a starter and last but not least, the first starting spot for Koné, who was supported on the wings by Luis Suárez and ArribasMaximiano remained between the sticks, Edgar and César Montes operated as centre-backs, and both Lopy and Melero were placed in the midfield again.

UD Almería lacked the cutting edge and were slow out of the traps at the beginning since before the clock struck 7:10pm, it was a flying start for Sevilla FC who were 2-0 up thanks to some good pressing. The opener was grabbed by En-Nesiry with a thumping header, and the second arrived from a solo play by Lukebakio who dribbled past UD Almería defence just before hitting the top corner in spectacular fashion, a shot impossible to block by the Indálico keeper who had to prevent many shots and crosses form coming in during the first half.

UD Almería played to their strengths, but Sevilla FC were very solid and in the 38th minute, Suso fired emphatically past the goalie to make it 3-0. There could even have been more goals against before reaching the end of the opening forty-five minutes.

Half-time: Sevilla FC 2-0 UD Almería

The second half, far from changing, remained exactly the same as the first. Shortly after the restart, a clear foul in favour of UD Almería turned into Sevilla's fourth goal. Vicente Moreno's outfit did not seem comfortable on the pitch, they saw themselves overwhelmed in every play and lacked the ability to react. The Sevillian team was able to continue gaining momentum, yet they did not manage to carve their way through the defence to add the 5th, so UD Almería's consolation goal came courtesy of Luis Suárez. The Colombian converted from 12 yards following a studs-up tackle on Ramazani inside 71 minutes.

Before the final whistle, Sevilla FC's fifth goal would finally be scored by opponent Kike Salas who sealed a comprehensive 5-1 victory over the Rojiblancos. A game to forget for UD Almeria who were outplayed at all times.
